Strategic Collaborations

While peer-to-peer scientific interactions form the foundation for more strategic linkages among scientific institutions, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) management seeks to mature these into significant partnerships with compelling scientific and educational goals. Our first such strategic alliance dates from the early 1960’s with the establishment of the University of California, Davis, Department of Applied Science co-located with LLNL. Currently the Laboratory has established or exploratory partnerships with:

The University of California, Davis
The University of California, Santa Cruz
The University of California, Merced
The University of California, Los Angeles
The Naval Postgraduate School
Georgetown University

Mechanisms and motivations for building these partnerships vary, but the desire to define and advance significant, mutually beneficial scientific efforts underlies each. Our most successful collaborations are advanced and nurtured by passionate advocates from both sides, engaging management at both institutions with their vision for the partnership.
